We bought this washer based on the strong reviews hoping for a reliable upgrade but its been a disappointment from day one. Weve had issues since the start and if we dont run a tub clean cycle every single week we get grey moldy gunk all over our clothes.
We had Home Depot come out to inspect within the first few months. They insisted there was no installation issue and told us frequent tub cleans were just normal maintenance. Since then theyve run multiple tests and still cant figure out whats actually wrong their conclusion is that we simply got a lemon.
Weekly tub cleaning shouldnt be required to keep your clothes from coming out dirtier than they went in. Were giving up and switching back to a front loader.
100 would not recommend this washer and we wont be buying appliances from Home Depot again.

Washer supposed to be large capacity but if I put too much in it does not spin out the dryer. Long washing cycle. Dryer does not dry clothes. I always have to be add more minutes even if it isnt a large load-clothes come out damp. It is raising my electric bill. We have a service agreement on the washer and a service person came by but he said it is okay-just out less in. I cannot find tge service agreement on the eyed and no one at LG could help me even after being transferred several times. Even our caretaker has a problem with these appliances. If I could afford to replace them I would but we are retired. Had to replace my 18 year old fatigue and did not buy a LG.

This was my reasoning for my purchasing a band new one year ago. The capacity efficiency noise cycles and vibration are far better than most.
The only reason this machine is rated a 4/5 rather than a 5 is that after a year the LID HAS A LOUD SNAPPING SOUND WHEN OPENING IMMEDIATELY AFTER A WASH.

This is the second LG washing machine with a direct drive. My first LG machine lasted 12 years before giving up the ghost. Because of its longevity and efficient washing capacity we purchased another. It has been a year since our purchase and we are still satisfied with its efficiency.
However over the past few months the lid makes a loud snapping sound when opening immediately after a wash.

We ordered this washer over a month ago. It just got delivered today 5/14/26 when it was scheduled to arrive 5/8/26. My husband contacted LG the morning of 5/8 and was told that it would be delivered between 12-4 and they never showed. I contacted customer service to see if there was anything they could do to help us and it was a wasted 2.5 hours of my life when I was first offered a $25 credit to which I turned down and then the lady put me on hold for another 30 minutes just for her to come back in the line and offer me $30. I requested a supervisor to call me and she said she would put a note in and Im still wait for a call back. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. AWFUL WORKERS. So disappointed with all of this considering how much money we spent and my husband took off a whole day of work $1000+ was lost in wages. DONT BUY.

Ill agree with all the suggested review topics. Its efficient no vibration I can hear upstairs or noise. I love the deep water selection. Most newer washers put barely any water into the drum so you think the laundry wasnt cleaned good enough. It has a larger capacity than my last washer which is definitely plus. My husband tends to do big loads at a time since he has all dark clothes. The cycles are about an hour except certain ones that require soaking or extra rinses. All over great product.

The clothes seem to get fairly clean but there is no selection for towels. That seems pretty basic. There is only cold medium or hot choices for water temp. This machine has limited selections for the price.

Mold and dirt accumulated under the plate to the point where we had to hire an expert to clean it twice. Cost as much as the washer itself. Could not remove the plate to clean underneath. I might add that the dryer sensor has not worked properly to the point where it is not used. Also we have a LG refrigerator.

Not to be that one star review guy but using this washing machine and dealing with the subsequent customer service after realizing it was a lemon has been the worst experience Ive ever had with an appliance. After 5 months Ive had maybe one consecutive week where the washer actually worked. The module seems to be off as the washer runs fine water comes in water comes out and the cycle goes as it should but as soon as any clothes are in I get the IE error sign. Ive watched hours of Youtube tutorials sought help from plumber/handyman friends and have had no luck. Now Id be forgiving if this was a manufacturing issue and the appliance simply needed replacing but by policy LG has made the next steps of confronting the issue infuriating. Calling customer service lead to several guided attempts to help me trouble shoot and fix the machine myself. Even they said the setup was perfect. From that point I started to realize that representatives were clearly trained to avoid having to send out servicers. I would have to ask for in person support 2-3 times before a representative would concede. From that point 3 weeks would pass with periodic updates that LG was still looking for servicers but couldnt find anyone in the area. Im caring for a sick parent with cancer at my home and the amount of laundry needing to be done has been exponential as they go through treatment. After dealing with this for 5 months I just needed this problem solved. I called LG back and demanded an RA number which is required to return/replace the appliance through Lowes. Regular customer service staff literally cant give you the one thing you need in order to replace a broken appliance that costs nearly $1000 with a warranty. You need to talk to a manager who you will basically be waiting on hold for indefinitely I waited for an hour on several attempts. Finally I went to Lowes for some help and after they contacted LG we were told that LG will only provide the RA number if we provide the paper receipt digital proof of purchase wasnt good enough which we dont have. So at this point weve just bought a new washer from a different make with this broken one sitting in the basement while we continue to fight LG. I could probably make up the $900 wasted dollars if I spent the number of hours on the phone with LG and DYI attempts at work instead combined with the hundreds of dollars spent at the laundromat in the last 5 months. Totally insane business model to make it this impossible to return their own products that dont work and to make your own employees powerless in resolving customer issues. Ive enjoyed LG products in the past but I wont be anymore and Ill be sharing this experience with anyone I know considering an LG appliance.

I really wanted to like this washer. I liked the lack of wifi/AI/tech components I was looking for a simple straightforward washer. I previously had an LG top loader that cleaned great but was 12 yrs old and because I was purchasing a new dryer I figured let me also just get a new washer. The capacity size was also seemingly great.
This washer does not load enough water for proper cleaning but that issue was sort of resolved by selecting Deep Wash fill and Water Soak which adds extra water. You definitely need to select the Water Soak feature because even with Deep Wash selected it wouldnt fill enough based on what it sensed. Even then the cleaning element of the washer isnt effective it just swishes your clothes around with no real washing and stains that were previously removed with my old washer would still be there on my toddlers clothes. The washer also frequently became unbalanced which might also be due to the larger capacity but one day I spent at least 3.5 hours attempting to unbalance rebalance and wash at that was one of my final straws.

Ive had this washer for over a year and its been a disappointment. I cant wash full loads because they will not get thoroughly rinsed. I have to wash smaller loads using deep wash. If I dont do that clothing especially dark athletic wear will be covered in detergent and I have to hand rinse items. I use only 1-2 tsp of HE detergent and have tried different brands to no avail. In addition If I wash sheets I usually find that the sheet on top is completely dry at the end of a load. I have to flip the sheets and run them a second time to ensure they are clean. Im not sure if this is a water measurement issue or an impeller issue. The only reason I can give the washer two stars is that it doesnt smell like my old front load washer

We have battled with this washer for a couple of years. It is a love hate relationship. We like the simplicity of it but dont feel that our clothes get as clean as possible. We purchased all LG appliances for our home because of reviews and recommendations. The dryer fridge ovens and cooktop are all great. This washer... not so much. We wanted one with a center agitator but were talked out of it - this is the BEST washer out there. It will get your clothes super clean and without the center agitator you get even more capacity. Capacity yes... cleanliness not so much.

Weve had an unusual experience with this washer. We had it delivered Dec. 10 and within 4 days it quit working. Because it was inside 30 days the Lowes extra insurance hadnt kicked in and LG had to send out a repairman. He told us they forgot to add some bolts at the factory as a result the engine was broken and he had to order a new one. He was scheduled to come back Jan. 4 when we finally got Lowes to replace it with a brand new one. This one is working fine but were understandably a bit nervous about how long this will last. It is quite a loud washer but other wise seems to work well.

I believe I bought this washer or its newest version. Had the washer hooked up and running exactly three weeks. Model #WT8405CB After three weeks the washer wound up making a terrible grinding noise when it ran and it spit up plastic pieces about 1 by 3 inches. We are a two person household not a lot of laundry. Called Customer Service it took them a month to find a technician to come look at it. I live in a rural area and we offered several times to load up the washer and take it back to the city we bought it in to the repair service of their choice. I was told that would void the warranty. Technician comes out and determines the machine needs a new pump and new agitator gears/assembly. At this point Im two months into trying to get Customer Service to send someone who can fix it or send me the parts and Ill pay to have them put in. Even though the machine was purchased new on Oct. 10 and everyone agrees its still under warranty. But I just keep getting promises that my issue has been referred to the highest levels by Customer Service and no results.
We bought LG because weve had several of their appliances before and found them to be sturdy and efficient. Never had a problem until now. I am extremely disappointed and could not recommend this washer or LG to anyone

My dryer died and since my washer was equally ancient I replaced it with the LG. I love the options and size of this washer. It has a lot more features and I thought there may be a learning curve but I was wrong. Its idiot proof. I like the glass top and even the cute chrome that signals when the load is done. It is also really quiet.

The washer works well and is easy to use. However due to the spin cycles very effective wringing out the clothes comes out very wrinkled making it difficult to air dry items and wear without needing to iron them.

Sounds like it is struggling to empty yet there is no obstruction. The delicate cycle uses so little water I have started washing many items by hand. Basically avoid this washer

I have tried for two years to like this machine but it is the worse washer I have ever had. Give me just a regular old fashion wash machine that actually cleans your clothes. Who needs all these bells and whistles if your clothes come out worse than when put in. For anyone who is looking for a good washing machine steer clear of this one and I will tell you why.
1 the clothes dont come out clean
2 this machine tries to tell you how much water to use. Even when you put it on water plus the water level bearly covers the top of the clothes
3 because there is no agitator the clothes bearly move around in the huge capacity leaving areas that never actually get wet. How can you clean something that is never under the water
4 the clothes just swish back and forth so they never get moved around under and over just stay in a small radius and still seem to get all tangled together
5 when I called to complain that the clothes came out with white linty spots they told me I had to clean my washer every month Seriously have you ever had to clean your brand new washer to get your clothes clean? We are an older couple our clothes arent that dirty but they come out with more lint and white stuff on black clothes where does this come from? So I do clean my washer every month and guess what they still come out with stuff on them.
6 I think because they dont get moved around enough and there isnt enough water in the tub your clothes do not come out nice and clean
7 I hope this helps anyone who wants a good washer to rethink this one.

I had this washer delivered on December 10 and it worked for three days. It started to make a very loud noise then stopped working. LG arranged for a repairman to come by on December 18 and he had to order parts and is scheduled to arrive back on January 4th. Weve been without a washer since December 10 when our aging yet still working washer was hauled away by the Lowes delivery guys who delivered the new LG washer. We chose it because of its high ratings on Consumer Reports. The repairman stated that there were bolts that were not installed at the factory as they should have been so this is clearly something LG should reimburse us for.

I bought this to replace a 10+ yr. old LG front loader. My decision was based on the way top loaders performed 20-30 yrs. ago. Had I watched a video of any of them in action first I would not have made the purchase. Top loaders of old washed clothes with much faster agitation. This one plays hokey pokey with your clothes. It gently pulls them in and then pushes them out over and over. The old machines had the agitator rotating in one direction allowing it to pull the clothes on top inward and downward while creating a nice rotation. You could throw a bath towel half way over the edge yes they worked with the lid open back then and it would be sucked into the water quickly. The back and forth slow motion of todays top load machines leave the clothes in place and more importantly not clean. I realize things have changed and the water level matches the depth of the clothing but you can still fill it up like years ago if youd like. And it still does no good if the clothes just float slowly in and out. Thats what used to be called the gentle cycle.
I loved my old LG front loader but I thought that going back to a top load machine would be better especially for the mold factor. Im sending this one back and have a new LG front loader on the way. I trust the brand just not top load machines. The options and the quiet operation are fine but the lack of cleaning ability gives it 2 stars.

Appliance is decent but let down by its electronics and user interface. The motor is controlled by an inverter but the inverter operates in an audible frequency. Basically if you cant shut this in a closet youre going to hear an extremely high pitch squealing sound the entire time the motor is enabled and operating. This is the single most infuriating fault of this machine. I can not adequately restate how terrible the sound is.
Again this machine squeals every time the motor moves. If youre over the age of 95 your ears probably cant hear it.
The buttons are actually capacitive sensors. These are incredibly unreliable when your fingers are even the slightest bit wet. Keep a towel nearby.
The main interface knob is extremely poorly implemented. It will click several times before moving onto the next option unless you twist the knob very slowly. It is clear that LG was extremely lazy in implementing this as using interrupts to keep track of a quadrature encoder is literally elementary.
Surely a $750 machine can be more competent than a childs first electronics project.

We purchased a new washer to replace a 10 year old LG which had performance issues. The first use of the machine brought back the same type of performance issues as the old one - rinse cycle did not remove residue from the clothes. We had a difficult time trying to understand the problem. Finally after not getting much help from LGs online assistant we discovered the reason - the quest for Energy Star rating. The use of less water in the rinse cycle and it being cold instead of warm which would better dissolve the soap residue are the culprits. So we have to require an additional rinse cycle to solve the issue. I would say that using pods instead of liquid detergent saw improved performance.

Do not buy this machine -it does not get your clothes wet even when you say deep wash. You cannot put clothes into soak because all of the water drains out. Be prepared to standby so that you can poke the dry clothes down into the water to ensure they get washed.This is the most frustrating washing machine Ive ever owned in my entire life. Im still trying to get used to washer. I use the deep fill and it never seems to put enough water in.I have had to wash twice because of residue. I use less detergent also. Im use to hitting a setting and it gets done. Too many buttons to push.

This is the worst washer I have ever owned. My towels come out heavy and wet. I have to dry them 1 1/2 times as long on high as my old washer. The service tech assured me that it was spinning at 800 rpm just like it was supposed to.
That does not fix my heavy wet towels and extended dryer time.
Even when I run an extra spin on it my towels still come out heavy and wet.

We purchased the washer in 9/2024 to replace our very-aged LG front load washer. The clothes do not come out as clean as they did before. Most of our clothes develop lint lines In The creases of our clothes. Weve reached out to customer service and tried several of the cycle stages following their recommendation and the only one that seems to work a little bit better than the other is the deep wash. As a result our water usage is significantly higher and excessive usage on our softener. Stains that I used to be able to get out easily with our front load machine are still present even after multiple washes. Just does not work with our very active family
